Service Description

Introducing the first of our guest lecturers, Raphaela Seck. Raphaela is a skilled potter specilaising in the technique of throwing. Through her practices she produces highly refined and accomplished work. Predominantly using stoneware Raphaela creates sensitive tableware with interesting glazed surfaces to highlight the beauty of the ceramic form. This weekend workshop is suitable for those who have experience in the technique of throwing on the wheel. The sessions are designed for those who wish to improve their throwing skills, either through general technique or wishing to develop specific skills such as repeat throwing or plates. This workshop is focussed on process rather that product. At the end of the workshop you will select your most successful pieces to go through to firing. You will then also choose a final glaze colour for your work. After the workshop, your work will be left to dry slowly then be bisque fired, your work will then be glazed and then fired again. This process can take up to 5 – 6 weeks. Classes run from 10:00 - 3:30 with a 30 minute lunch break. Spaces are limited to five, enabling plenty of 1-2-1 tuition. All equipment and materials are provided, along with tea, coffee and biscuits. Please ensure you bring a lunch with you.
