Parent and Child Turtle and Mug hand-building workshop

Join professional animal sculptor Holly Worland Young at the MAKE Bristol studio for our very first parent and child workshop. During this 90-minute session Holly will take you through the traditional hand-building practice of making pinch pots. Children - Holly will demonstrate how to sculpt a clay turtle. With Holly’s assistance you will then begin to construct your own; sculpting the main body and then adding additions (head, arms, legs, tiny tail!) to bring your turtle to life. Once the overall construction is complete you will have the opportunity to texturise and colour your work. Parents – You can either construct your own turtle or make a more useful mug using a similar technique. You could even combine the two?! Holly will teach and support you with the construction of your work. You too will have the opportunity to texturise and colour your work. After the session your work will dry and go through two firings. This process can take between 5-6 weeks. Once completed you will be notified to pick up your work from the studio. Should items need to be posted, additional P&P charges will apply. Suitable to children aged 8+. Tea, coffee, juice and biscuits are provided. Due to the space in the studio all participants must be paying. *Please note, ceramics is temperamental business. We take great care in all stages of the production of your work. Occasionally accidents do happen which are out of our control. Sometimes work will get damaged during the drying and firing process. We will not be held accountable for damages during these processes, refunds will not be given.
